Pythagorean table for 2011-12 German Bundesliga (2012-01-15)

We present the Pythagorean table for the 2011-12 German 1. Bundesliga season, which is currently in its winter break. The standard league Pythagorean exponent of 1.70 is used.

Bayern Munich lead the Bundesliga table at the halfway break, but they could have been in a much stronger position than they are actually. Bayern’s -5 Pythagorean residual is the lowest in the competition, but their dominance over the rest of the league is such that they still have a three-point lead over Dortmund and Schalke. Dortmund are performing slightly below expectations, but just a small uptick in results would have place them at the top of the table. The rest of the field is performing in line with their expectations, with the exceptions of Bremen and Stuttgart.
