Pythagorean table for 2010-11 German Bundesliga (2011-01-19)

Below is the Pythagorean table for the 2010-11 German 1. Bundesliga, for matches played up to 15 January 2011.  The league Pythagorean exponent is 1.70.  Dortmund are flying high at the top of the league, but the team of the first half of the season — and perhaps the biggest surprise in the major European leagues — has to be Hannover.  They have a goal difference of +1, yet lie in second place in the league!  It looks like they might be headed for a fall in the second half of the season, but it will be worth paying attention to them.  The biggest underachievers of this season are without a doubt Stuttgart (-10 Pythagorean differential).   And to think that four years ago, they were champions of Germany…
