Pythagorean 2.0 Projections: 2010 MLS Regular Season (2010-06-06)

We're approaching the World Cup break in Major League Soccer, so it's a good time to take another look at the Pythagorean projections for the league.  Once again I've kept the conferences apart and used the standard Pythagorean exponent of 1.70 to calculate the predicted points.  Just as before, almost all of the teams have point totals in line with their statistical expectations.  The big exception continues to be the New York Red Bulls, who are performing two games better than their expectations.  Their hot start to the season has cooled off somewhat, but they are still enjoying a bump from playing in their new stadium and from an overall change in attitude.  (I'd also call the Galaxy an overachieving team considering that they've won almost 90% of the available points so far.)
